Course Information
Much of the course is web-based. Students who wish to be included in the course must have a computer with readily available internet access. Class meeting times and the clinical portion of the course meet in the evening after 4:00 PM or on the week-end.
After successful completion of the course, students are matriculated into Nursing 203 to begin the final two semesters of the ADN Program. Any additional general education courses required for the degree are to be taken along with the remaining two semesters of nursing courses. Depending on the class size and the availability of nursing faculty, the last two semesters of nursing classes may be during the day, evening or week-end.
NSG 201 Course Description
This course builds upon the basic nurisng skills and concepts learned in the LVN/LPN experience. The course is designed to assist the Practical Nurse to make the transition to the RN role.
Areas of study include the role of the Associate Degree Nurse and application of the core components of nursing practice to clients experiencing the dysfunctional health patterns of health perception-health management, value-belief, rest-sleep, activity-exercise, and nutritional-metabolic.
Upon successful completion of all components of the course, the students are admitted to NSG 203 and will earn advanced standing, 18 credit hours in nursing.
Lecture is 3 hours and Laboratory is 3 hours.
