Creative Problem Solving
The course explores a number of methods to generate creative solutions to problems. Participants are introduced to several idea generation tools including:
- Brainstorming
- Brainwriting
- Nominal Group Technique
- Questioning Assumptions
- Gray Box Technique
- Inventor/Detective
Portions of the class emphasize techniques used for cost reduction and creating ideas for new products and markets. Idea selection tools such as list reduction, dot voting, effective-achievable matrix, prioritization matrix, ranking solutions and positive/negative criteria are also discussed.
Program Format: Fifteen hours of class time. Format includes a combination of lecture and exercises.
