Curriculum Modifications
One goal of this grant is to modify the curricula in the Developmental Education/Gateway courses to reflect 'best practices'. Developmental Reading, Math, and English courses will be adapted to create a more learner-centered environment by incorporating alternative teaching strategies to engage students in the classroom. Professional Development opportunities will be offered for faculty to help reach this goal.
To reflect 'best practices' in Developmental Education, the program will be centralized to coordinate with other departments instructional initiatives. The Learning Specialist will work closely with faculty members and the Dean of Academic Affairs to help make and test the curriculum modifications and program centralization efforts.
